EXAM SYSTEM OVERVIEW

CBSE Assessment System – Class-wise Overview

At Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mondal Public School, we strictly follow the latest CBSE guidelines for student evaluation. The system is designed to promote continuous and comprehensive learning, reduce academic pressure, and encourage all-round development.

Classes 1 to 5 (Primary Level)

• No formal examination

• Evaluation is continuous and activity-based

• Teachers use observation, class participation, worksheets, projects, and oral assessments.

• Focus is on language development, numerical skills, and basic understanding.

• Report cards include remarks on scholastic and co-scholastic performance.

Classes 6 to 8 (Middle School)

• Academic year divided into Term 1 and Term 2

• Each term includes:

  • Periodic Tests

  • Notebook Submission

  • Subject Enrichment Activities

  • Term-End Exams (Half-Yearly and Annual)

• Grading is based on cumulative performance (internal + term exams)

• Co-scholastic areas (Art, Work Education, Health & Physical Education) are graded separately.

Classes 9 and 10 (Secondary Level – Board Classes)

• CBSE mandates full syllabus-based final exams for Class 10.

• Internal Assessment (20 Marks):

  • Periodic Tests (10 marks)

  • Notebook Submission (5 marks)

  • Subject Enrichment (5 marks)

• Final Board Exam (80 Marks) for Class 10 conducted by CBSE.

• Class 9 follows the same pattern as Class 10 but with school-conducted final exams.

• Co-scholastic assessment and attendance are also considered for overall evaluation.

Common Rules for All Classes:

• Minimum 75% attendance is compulsory to appear in final exams.

• Promotion is based on cumulative performance in all assessments.

• Students must pass in individual subjects to be promoted (especially in Classes 9 & 10).
